About
I was born and raised in Durango, Mexico in a bilingual family. When I was about 13 my Mom enrolled me in a special class I was sure I would hate! I was not happy, but my ‘boring’ class was an art class which turned out to be an experience that changed the lens through which I see life. (Moms do know best!)
Years passed and I had my first solo art exhibition at 21. Between my 25th and my 27th birthdays I had two wonderful daughters, to whom I wanted to read stories, so I wrote my own.
One night as I fell asleep, I had a dream. In this dream I saw an image that remained strong and clear, even after I woke up. I sat up and scribbled a sketch of it on a small piece of paper I had on my night table.
About a year later I incorporated this illustration into my first book, which became an award-winning book in Mexico. I didn’t know I had it in me, but there it was, a book living in my head. I’ve had many dreams since then, some of which have become illustrations.
I immigrated to the United States in 2011 and became a naturalized citizen in December 2020. I currently live in the Rocky Mountain region. I am married to a wonderful husband and between us we have 5 grown children and an adorable Morkie named Levi.
Since that first art class in Middle School which exposed me to a huge world of color and creativity I have:
– Written and illustrated 2 books in Spanish.
– Had a solo exhibition and multiple group exhibits in well-known galleries in my Mexico.
– Illustrated a picture book for author Bibi Cordova.
– Illustrated an informational book about scorpions for Author Betty G. Howard.
– Created an Etsy shop where you can see my art on stationery.
– Published my first coloring book, “Mountain Fun.”
– Created multiple planners soon to be in digital formats and paperback.
– Illustrated “Always Flying Bobby!” Written by author, C.S. Boyll (www.csboyll.com) (Soon to be released).
– Begun work on 24 illustrations for a scientific book about the birds of the State of Durango by authors Walter Bishop and Betty G. Howard (Second edition to be published in 2024).
